EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Is one week old enough to put ducks on shavings?

I have, don't recall any issues.

Thanks! They're so big. I have 3 sections in my brooder, and over the summer I took out one divider to make it big enough for growing birds. I'm considering taking out the second divider and letting them have the whole thing. Maybe they will be cleaner with more room to spread out. :lau

I was hoping this was a learning forum for first time or novice incubating people, it's turned into quite the chat room....... about other stuff

This is an incubation/hatch/chick/chicken

help & Learning thread.

There is a lot of time to kill in between set & hatch that we fill with chatter.

Especially for those

pacing back & forth at hatch

It's just time consuming scrolling through all the random chatter, sorry guys, sometimes my posts get missed and I know maybe get 1 or 2 people to answer me but just maybe the way the forum is set up....

I think if the format was more like a chain, where 1 posts question or comment then when you reply to answer them vs "quote" the response shows directly under the persons question or comment....

Why not both? :highfive:

Honestly, though, the info in the first post is invaluable. Also the magnitude of experience of the folks here... I've never had a questioned unanswered. Everyone is more than helpful, and beyond that they continue to check on progress, ask for pics and updates, and so on. I've received help with incubation of chicks and ducks, as well as tons of helpful info with my goats. I've asked for help with tools and coop ideas. Sometimes we talk about parenting advice.

Not all of us hatch nonstop, and lots of us are down for the winter. But we still like to hang out. If you stick around til spring, I guarantee you'll get all the hatching and babies you could ever hope for. :hugs

Just a thought..... I know there is time to kill, but to try and find those whom have answered after stepping away for a few mins or hour, sometimes I'm not on for a day or 2 and by then 100 pages have posted
If you have when you are quoted setup to email you, it will help you find the places where people have answered your questions, also turn emails on for tags and asked to be tagged with the answer might help.
