what about a roost board with a alum squarish down spout attached to back of it somehow with the rope lights in it? then they can get back to it and front? bands could be predrilled to extend over the wood to support it all the way along it?? or some other alum straps?

Something like that might work. A couple other ideas.

Quote: Im assuming if they can draw heat laying on roost it can keep them warm no? if free of drafts? what do I know I could put above the roost I guess? I have a heat pad on low in Sammy the conure cage and its L shaped with a hand towel over it, he lays on it and up against it where it folds upright. he didnt hesitate to hang out in his new warm spots let me tell you, was there in less than a minute
Would it heat properly from above the roost, since heat rises?

WHAT!!! no way!! its not allowed to come yet!! turning on the news right now! ughh
I just retrieved the blower from the barn, made sure it would start, & parked it under the deck, so I don't need to slog thru snow getting it out of the barn. Work smarter, not harder.

Now if yall could figure out how I am gonna whelp two litters at once and where Imma do it at, please let me know!!! I should rent a shed with a heater in it for the duration!!!!
Too bad your dogs aren't acclimated to cold weather. I always planned for January litters; every pup I ever had was whelped outside with no heat.
