, metronidazole, erythromycin, and tylosin. Tetracycline was formerly on the list but too much resistance has developed. If Clostridium perfringens is responsible for the diarrhea, a response to antibiotics is generally seen in a couple of days. A total antibiotic course of several weeks is typical.

Dax, I would personally close those windows and cut out for two of these SCREENED Homedepo cheap vents and put them up top front, you may be getting draft frostbite!

Very good advice.

@Sally Sunshine I was afraid of that when they suggested opening those windows. I will add those vents, though I have unseen venting under the tin at the top. There is four inches of hardware cloth making a venting gap.

Your puppies are so cute. I have the same problem with wanting to keep my kids.
I don't see where there is much light getting in there, am I wrong?

Don't think so, it stays right around 60 degrees...
I just set a dozen eggs for the NYD HAL. 8 are very dark and quite large (range from 64.7-71.8 grams) from a new unrelated bird.
4 more dark eggs from another older bird that just started laying after molt. They're about 55-56 grams.
The incubator is at 90F right now but I just stuck the carton in there. I prefer it to come up slowly.
I was concerned because the upstairs furnace wasn't working but I think I just got it going. It was 61F and it wouldn't even try to start when you ran the temp up.

not sure, but do you have any blue hens?

Hi sweets! im ok thank you

oh you will send me the biggun this winter I bet!  oh no those are north eastern right?  hmmm  I know a few up that way I can blame too!!

I do, I have a blue EE pullet that I think has blue marans in her blood somewhere, single comb, red neck feathers, very small feathers on her toes. Unfortunately I'm still waiting on her first egg :barnie

Thanks. That is interesting. I don't remember now which strain it was but the vet said it is very common with livestock in this area but my birds had a pretty heavy infestation. Luckily it was just one flock but they had just started up laying again and I had to throw eggs away for over a month.

As anal as I am, I try to give an accurate dose based on weight, which is 0.02 ml per pound orally. Keep in mind that ivermectin is not very effective in treating capillary worms and cecal worms.

What would you suggest? I have Goat wormer, ivermectin, Valbazen, Wazine, or ?

Thanks Dax, you can take pics of the venting is it the entire length and 4" width? I would think that is sufficient. Its very odd he has frostbite in that temp. your positive he is feeling well? did you hold him and do the chest score on him and do a general health check that @casportpony suggested? I have another question..... under that coop where he can be free.... is that where his feed and water is? is it very windy down under there? perhaps a wind chill is a factor and you could put plastic around three sides of that? to help from wind? not sure of the set up but maybe if it gets very windy it could alone be an issue?

I think she has two of those plexiglass on each side? but not sure, this is also why I questioned the bottom and if he is getting extra cold from wind because he feels the need to go below out into the light? I did go back and notice one sideis closed off at the botttom, but she has to know the wind factors etc under there because we cant. but very good points as well.
