EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Here is a picture of Snowflake, She is a late (June) hatch, she is moving tomorrow to her new home. She was not happy when I informed her late this afternoon of the move.....

She was not happy with the move indoors either.

And here is a view of my Yokohama Rooster, the hens are in the background, They were on the roost when I took Snowflake into the pole barn so I snapped the picture that shows his great tail (for a cockerel). My first Yokohama chick should hatch a week from today.

Hey, Banti, it was 80F here yesterday. It's 77F out there right now - I'm in a tank top and shorts, came home early so I can get some gardening done.

I am thinking this post should be flagged as harassment of those of us up north. The more I look at it and read the temps, the more it bothers me!!!

80 degrees in January is just not right.... Methinks we should send her a storm with some ACTUAL cold temps. Or, we could be nice and only send her -20.....

Will be off work for awhile still and another 4 weeks of therapy until he decides to think about a second surgery.... A glass of wine is in order tonight

Thanks to everybody who messaged me the well wishes and checked up on me. At least the birds behaved and all went in their coops in an orderly fashion tonight

Quote: Actually, joking aside, it's warmer than I would prefer, just plain weird weather. I went to the garden and the lettuce is BOLTING!!!! Good grief!

Only one escapee this AM (a blue copper marans pullet).

Puppy was so funny - I watched her for a little while this morning and she was pacing all around, it was clear that she needed to lay and had not decided whether she really wanted to do so in the nest box (and would have preferred to do it outside of the paddock). But finally she did lay in the nest, so I have yet one more of her eggs saved to put in the 'bator - she's the only one laying in that coop now, so it's nice to know these are her eggs. The olive eggers' egg was covered in poop today, and I already have about 4 or 5, so I decided against saving that one to set. The R-Com has the marans eggs at a higher humidity, and it is giving me fits, the temperature bounces around way too much for my liking. But I have to deal with it for now, here's hoping the little ones in there will be ok.

I finished my cut list, so I'm going to make a salad and scrounge up other stuff for dinner. If I'm still with it, I'll head over to start measuring and cutting 2x2s, 1x2s, and HW cloth to build my brooders. (Not a good idea to use the miter saw when I'm super hungry!)
