Not necessarily. Do you have any zip ties?I just spent the last hour tearing up the house looking for my toe punch. I can't find it. ANYWHERE. I SWEAR I just saw it last week. Argh!!!!
Guess we'll play "Who's your daddy?" this hatch...![]()

That is such splendid advice. I was about to say that lots of people had NN eggs but your point is much better. No you don't. It is very hard to have separate pens for different breeds. I have multiple coops and have a mixed flock until things settle down here except for my seramas. You have a few nice ayam cemani fro CJ-build something small and functional for them. weed out (not hatch) your mixed breeds. make it manageable. stay focused and then after 6 months or so, rethink your decision after eresearching different breeds and settle on 1 or 2.
Quote: Hmmmm.... Yep, I use the numbered ones form Strombergs, but since they're a bit clunky, I usually wait until they are a week or two old to put them on. Do you put them on day 1? I may have some LITTLE ones - that would be more reasonable to try on first day of life. I already took the eggs out of the mesh bags... If I can find the little zip ties, maybe I'll try to get them back into the bags before someone pips. (Poor eggies - I will have had the hatcher open three times tonight now...)
Thanks for the idea! (Off to search for little zip ties...)
