EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Has anyone ever had any experience with shipping eggs with heat packs? If so, how do I do it and what do I use?

I looked around on this thread and found some stuff, but didn't find any info that helped me.

Got another pip, that makes 7 (that I can see) out of 20, 13 to go.

Glaring back (while wondering what I did wrong this time)...

I pulled two babies out of their shells tonight and re-candled the non-hatcher. I have 8 eggs left in the hatcher. I don't think they will hatch. But I have fingers crossed.

I took a couple quitters out, Early quitters it appears but I could not tell when they went in the hatcher. And one late quitter, Lucky thing he was a late quitter or he could have been a fatality when my flashlight to candle with fell on him and smashed his egg.....Which is why I never candle too much.

The one is weak and nearly dead, (dom) that had the yolk sac outside the body. I did not open the hatcher to give him water Aurora, It was not worth risking the rest to save one weak chick. I let nature cull on those so I don't have to later.

Oh wow, huge breasts....

What breed/ mix? I have one similarly colored we are going to butcher!

He is a toad, he is the grandfather to the toads I am hatching now:

I Just love this picture and will use any excuse to post it...These are his Grandkids next to a hatch mate of theirs. The Hatch mate is a LF and not a bantam.

Is that picture through the glass of the hatcher? If I monkeyed with my eggs as much as you do yours, I would never have any hatch. You must be really good or really lucky...

Of course, Murphy's Law would dictate a dux would survive while a decent one would die from the handling...

I haven't done it yet but from what I've been told/read is that you should use 72 hour heat packs and place 1 inside the main shipping box but outside the inner box with the eggs.

I have turkey poults hatching! Mine are also early. They were due Saturday morning but then again, my poults always seem to hatch early. There are 3 out so far
