EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

More babies last night and this morning. A couple more does are in labor right now. No pics yet except for this one of Brit warming a little doeling in the truck. (We lost her brother as a stillborn). Mom still is pushing 1 more.

Which generation you are growing now?
Do you get a consistency on the plumage colors trough this generation?

From the original CX in 2012 I am guessing f-5, However from the final cross I am on f-3.

The plumage is not always consistent. I have mainly white with a few spots now (parent to newest generation), Bert is huge orange spots (grandfather to this group. The parents of this group have one almost black and one calico.

Yup, about that up here, too! Supposed to get to 60 today, 70 tomorrow! It was 30 yesterday, typical Missouri winter. Don't like it? Wait 5 minutes, it'll change!
Yes, long underwear for my outdoor work yesterday morning, tee shirt weather this afternoon. I just hate it when it swings from 55 to -5 in a few hours. It makes adjusting hard. That is why my house stays around sixty with the thermostat set to kick in at 55. I usually leave a morning fire if weather calls for it. The heat is just a back up for the really cold days where I am gone over 14 hours and I am not there to light another fire.

Orpingtons are svelte twiggy figured models next to the toads...

(I assume someone here is old enough to remember twiggy)...
yes, i remember

It is still swinging! You need a consistency in plumage for minimum of 3 generation to be on the safe side! ( you will still have glitch onc in a while! ) so keep all your stock and start spreading after you got that goal !
