EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Actually I just love the look of the whites, I find it corny they put the name frost in it. I know when I looked at Meyers and MypetChicken, They gouge people for them and their anticipated hatch is way less than I have right now.
Ralphie I woyld be happy to pay you for some if they are the same or similar. we are selling eggs better than expected and people love the dark browns and light blues mixed in. I was going to pay for "olive eggers" only to find out I already have some beauties from an impulsive chick splurge from a friend and our local fair!

Why do I always think of Brittney Spears "Oops I did it again" when I hear this

Bad timing - in just a few days, I'll have 100+ chickens and chicks and will be scrambling with all my might to arrange the growout housing in time. So I can't take on turkeys this year. (Might think about it next year...) But thanks so much for offering! Would have been great!

I have 1 roo and 2 hens from MPC-they are called super blue egg layers. they are supposedly AM X legbar that are said to produce a wealth of true light blue eggs. I paid about $20 a chick from them last year. while as they were flighty at first and white which I don't love in a free range environment, they have grown into their own and proven to be true to their description as far as laying a beautiful blue egg daily for me and have actualy been one of my more friendly birds-especially the roo!!!

I'm sure Ralphies are a bit different and better quality but I am wondering if they are the same concept.

No, the ones I have are not crosses, they are true legbars. They have a recessive white gene that came into the country in a few when GGF imported them. IT took several years for 2 birds with the recessive white to mate and male the white legbars..

They are just so cool,,

I have about a million pictures of them..LUCKY YOU!!

1) Hysterical photo!!!!
2) Awwwww.... So this is one of the huggable ones?

Puppy was out again today, and kept me company while I repotted tomatoes, coming to check on me then wandering off again. The hawks have been out hunting this weekend (I'm so grateful for the "rooster alarm network" - seven of them, all watching the skies, and the first one who sees one alarms for the whole yard, then they all alarm and and all run for cover.) So even though she's smart and careful, when I saw she had wandered way into the back and was in a bit of an open space, I called out "Puppy!" She was about 200 or so feet away, and she looked up and then started RUNNING toward me. Then, as always, she stopped JUST out of arms reach (I have to take the final step to pick her up - it's a control thing with her.) :love

Good point... I may use it in the garden paths instead...

Stick a fork in me - I'm done. I slept for about an hour or so after last posting, then got up and did more stuff. At least I got the essentials on my list done today. We'll see how much more I might accomplish in tiny bits through the evening...

Just got my seeds planted. I put the rope light sandwiched between a cardboard box with a timer for night under the seed flat
The comfrey plants are up now and just put cardboard around them. Please to see as many earthworms as I did. Very few when I first moved here.
