Nice!!!Thanks! I think it'll be one of those "what is meant to be will be". I had a bad feeling about it the second I took it out of the box (having had a few weak ones that didn't make it in the past). @Pensmaster - sorta bummer, but actually, possibly a blessing NOT to have 50+ chicks all the same age at the same time. I might get a little breathing room this way...Looks like I lost the quote (Dax?) asking what the chicks will look like. They will look something like this, if I'm lucky:

Yes, yes I do.
I wasn't privy to this fact.
We can go to as many feed stores and pet stores as you want, as long as all of the animals stay at your house.![]()
Your daughter. Your animal. Besides. You need female ducks too! And geese.
Math is hard.
Um. Yes. Okay. Umm
"Do we have enough time to go to Petco tonight?"
Hermit crab math. I never saw it coming!
I have never driven as far as I am going!
I'm sorry. Don't worry. You don't have to come. I'm not worth meeting.
Oh! I need more geese too!
I don't need more birds, thanks! If Heather doesn't take what she said she would, Duckling can't have her trio of bantam lavender Ameraucanas for Easter. Poor, sweet Duckling. Poor, poor poor sick Duckling.
I think I can arrange that!
I have some crawfish traps set out now

I'm glad you might be getting somewhere. The TSC here helps people load.Had OT this am. Weird stuff happening to the hand/wrist arm and therapist is noticing it. Said she went to talk to the Dr about me but he is out of town.I think we might be getting somewhere![]()

Daily "outing" was stopping at both farm stores. Bought some supplements to try to increase hatch rate and to get the birds ready for show. Chicks were in at both TSC and Family Farm. FF's looked much happier and healthier than TCS's. Bigger, cleaner brooders, fresh food and water and lively. TCs's had a few dead ones in there and many were just laying there not looking good with empty waterers@kajira I know you had mentioned your TCS chicks were looking rough too last year. I wonder what has changed here. I never have to lift or carry anything at FF and they won't accept tips. TSC they expect me to lift the bags to get to the UPC and never offer a carry out-I have to tell them I physically can do it and then i get dirty looks
I know where I will be taking my business from now on. I may try the TCS by my inlaws to see if it is the same there.![]()

We were in a valley in the Berkshires - very little snow compared to elsewhere. I don't think I've ever seen one of them thingamajiggies in my life...

I posted elsewhere, but I can't remember if I posted here (I I did, please forgive and ignore). The Aloha NNs arrived they morning - it was early enough that I was able to go pick them up when the post office opened and get them settled before heading in to work. All but one are doing well - one little one doesn't look like it'll make it (when you look at it, there seems to maybe be something wrong with the shape of its head). I'm not jumping the gun on euthanasia, though - I'll give it a chance. All the others are doing great.
Here's the weak one:
I got a call from Dunlap Hatchery - apparently they have had power issues and had a miserable hatch of NNs (something like only 18 from 300+ eggs set). So my S&G NNs will NOT be arriving on Saturday - we're going to try again with next week's hatch.

Sweet, I hope the one improves.
Good luck!Well, I did a quick candling. No internal pips but I am seeing twitches in a few of the eggs. I marked the dips in the air cells, turned them all with the dips up and haven't touched them since. Tonight I am going to fill up the the water wells and lock them down.
Now comes the waiting.
I have to admit that it seems weird to not turning these little souls every three hours like I have been doing. Instead, I'm just standing by the counter, staring at them as if that is going to help and occasionally saying "OH! Was that a twitch?"
All 11 eggs look viable. Nothing unusual in any of them. My last bantam eggs hatched on day 19 under a broody. Tomorrow is day 18............![]()
