EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

So MC (The one who's pip is right next to the small end) has the tip of her beak sticking out and has been nibbling and at the shell and has made a little progress (She has another big piece of shell on the ground). I'm wondering, since she pipped wrong, what are her chances of survival?

:hu I haven't any experience there though it sounds like she/he is zipping which is a good sign

she still has a good chance, it all depends on how determined she is to survive and get out
or if the time comes to it if you feel you need to assist

@The Duck Ladie

REMEMBER with ducks they take forever to get from PIP to ZIP

AND

if it looks like they are yawning, it means that they are absorbing the yolk and need more time

@Fire Ant Farm that is great news with your cats. Both for you and them. I hope you feel better soon.
Feel better soon!

I checked it out - Fleet Farm has it on sale for $399.99 right now. I hand pluck, and have Naked Necks, but that is tempting even to me. Ralphie, you say you like this one? Is it ok to use for a single chicken? Can you hold it while it's being plucked (by the feet), or does it have to rattle around?

Thanks! I've seen that stuff. But last night we made a lot of progress. while I was sitting in bed watching Red Green on my iPad before bed, first Brooke came up and hung out on the bed with me, including letting me scratch her head and stroke/pet her. Then, the big shocker was that Opal came up (after Brooke went off to do something else) and came right up to me, and let me pet her and scratch her head and everything. She has never let me come close to even thinking about touching her. She did that "kneading and purring" thing both on my legs and then later on my hip. I got a photo with the iPad, but it's dark. Will share later.
