Started finding more turkey eggs..... Also - found a nest of 13 eggs hidden in our water shed. threw the eggs in the incubator, they may or may not be viable. we will see. LOL didn't think it was safe to eat them though, so well see if any develop or if we found the nest too late.

we are down to 3/6 red sex links.

1 died to a horse.
1 died to a prolapse
1 decided to wrangle with a possum because she didn't want to come back before dusk.

The sex links are prolific layers, but are dumb as rocks, no survival skills, and seem to die at like 100% the rate of our other chickens. Even the ones who lay almost daily. It's so weird!

Definitely, do not think we'll be replacing them down the road with the same. Maybe the sex link X EE cross will have the nice eggs + smartness of our EEs.

Hi guys

I am using an incubator for the first time because (long story short) the broodies just weren't working.

So March 27 one of my eggs hatched (it was due the 28) and the other eggs I had set on that same day were bad so it's the only one. Today one of the two eggs that are supposed to hatch the 31 is peeping and I can hear tapping inside the other one (which has twins!)
It appears I also have other eggs with twins in them so i must've set double yolkers without knowing cuz they weren't bigger than usual. At first I thought they were identical twins but I guess birds can't do that

I'm not sure it's really going to matter. The swarms coming off the hives near me (don't understand how they still have bees in their hives) are building hives at all heights. Unfortunately, by the time I hear about these hives someone has already sprayed them.

I haven't caught one before. This was supposed to be my first year keeping bees.

I can see a beak in the egg with twins but I can still hear tapping, I wonder if the other twin can breathe?
The other egg I can see a beak also and it is peeping quite loudly

The other chick I have is VERY talkative. Even when it's not screaming for its "mommy" it is still chirping. Kept me up all night last night.

Lockdown! Eggs on the right are trying to internal (and one was peeping at me) and eggs on the left are a little behind. Eggs under the basket are possibly mixed, so separate.

I got up to get the brooders ready, Metzer farms told me my geese/ducks are arriving today, and i'm hoping they are okay, since they were all shipped on monday morning.........

No, the guy who used to be really good about calling me, doesn't work there anymore, and I haven't been able to get him to call me when stuff comes in like the other guy did. That's why I called Metzer farms to figure out where my birds where yesterday, they weren't at the post office when I stopped by.
Tracking put them as arriving today. Metzer said to call them if the birds didn't make it when I pick them up at the post office. It's scanned as arrival date, and I already talked to them and expressed my concerns about their health at the extra day in the mail.

They said they should be okay if I pick them up in the AM - but the last time this happened, I lost half of the animals that got shipped.

These geese are 75 each.......... i'm not happy if they die.
