That is an ADORABLE photo, but even I, who thinks they are WAY cuter than little chicks, don't want ducks.

LOL, I do feel some shame.... BUT I have enough dealing with muddy feet with my silkies, when it rains - I don't want all the muck that ducks create. I will own ducks vicariously through all of you!!!!
Yes, I already had goats before this thread.Had them about 7 years now.Hi All,
I was a few hundred pages behind, but every time I try to go back to read them, the system kicks me out. For everyone that is currently breeding goats - did you already have goats before this thread on BYC got you interested, or are chickens and this thread a gateway to raising goats? Some of the baby goat photos are WAY, way cuter than any baby goat I've seen around here. Who was it that had a premie - how is the baby doing?
I gave 4 of the 10 RIR I hatched to the broodies. When I checked them this morning, 2 of the RIR and 1 silkie were out and about. The black silkie baby was nowhere to be found, but I was only there for a few minutes - the other 2 RIR were nestled in feathers - their coloring makes them stand out. I'm guessing that's where the black silkie was - but it blended right in. I did a little better at closing off their coop. There was some openings just small enough for a baby to sneak out, but not big enough for mom to follow.
So are you the instigator of all these goats?Yes, I already had goats before this thread.Had them about 7 years now.
I hope the broody hens take good care of the chicks!
Quote: No, of course not.
Sorry about the chick, I hope it pulls through.![]()
How much space do the broody hens have and how many others in with them. Mine tend to want plenty of space, and are pretty good at keeping non mama hens away. Roosters typically help with that too.
I will take some for dinner.LOL, I do feel some shame.... BUT I have enough dealing with muddy feet with my silkies, when it rains - I don't want all the muck that ducks create. I will own ducks vicariously through all of you!!!!
This is my first broody pile. There are 7 hens in there, they have been sitting on eggs for 4 weeks now. No other hens getting in there anymore. No, of course not.
