EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Quote: However important Cons of night jobs are:

1. lack of natural daylight = depression and low vitamin D (which increases risk of osteoporosis and cancer)
2. elevated cortisol levels = issues with weight and sugar regulation
3. less people to talk to/make friends

Mammalian bodies were meant to sleep at night. We kind of mess with that at our peril in the long run.

I let my teenager in my bathroom last night and he unplugged my incubator. *faceplants* I was 4-5 days into 3 eggs I actually wanted to set. I love my bantam cochins.

Back to the drawing board I guess. Silkie and SilkieX cochin cross... if the eggs aren't salvagable. It was 72 in my bathroom but the eggs felt cold to the touch.

How long was the bator unplugged for? They may be OK

With breast feeding 2 kids and all the animals to deal with does your teen feel he needs some attention from you, even if it is just you yelling at him??

My legbar gal is a bit of a spaz; makes her entertaining to be around. She can't decide if she loves humans or is petrified of them.

No - he didn't mean to unplug it. he was just looking at it, and didn't realize he knocked the cord loose.
He felt bad about it. ^.^

And for what it's worth, he pretty much gets more attention than anyone else, due to his special needs. We have to sit down and explain basic concepts to him that everyone else gets. If anyone feels neglected, it's our 6 year old, because she's developing normally and we have higher expectations of her.

I've been pretty lucky with my oldest DD though - she's pretty happy in general and a good natured kid. The sebastapol geese were her easter present. She's spoiled in a different way. LOL as long as she continues to be helpful, and kind, and a good big sister and doesn't have a jerk-attitude, she pretty much gets anything she asks for, as long as she understands she has to sometimes be patient. (she waited a year for a pony, and almost a year for sebstapol geese. She also had to wait a year to go to six flags with her older brother.)

My toddler's pretty good natured, too, albeit destructive and the baby is pretty mellow and content to just kind of tag along with what everyone else is doing. LOL

So, the three of them definitely even out my oldest. haha!

Despite that, he's not left out of the fun. :p
