I take it a lifelong male being very male is a bad thing. I'll try to correct that the next time around :/
personally, there's nothing wrong with men being men the problem in my opinion is when men have been made into women and women who can't be content with who they are. Some of the traditional roles were definitely too constricted, but some things are just facts. To make everyone the same as pointless we need to take advantage of each person's strengths.

Dear Dax and MC
I agree that it is important to take advantage of each person's individual strengths, but that shoud be regardless of gender.
Not sure I understand what you mean by "making men into women" and "women not being content with who they are".
Few men I know drive a truck and physically work as hard running a small farm like you Dax. Does that "make you into a man" because you do activities that are traditionally men's roles?
Men can't breast feed or have babies so what activities "make men into women" and what is it that make women "should be content with who they are"?
Do you mean that women should get paid less than men for the same job?
I saw some woman on TV sayin that because "women like that their man earns more that they do, and that is how it should be"
People say these things about gender roles but don't qualify them. Please educate me!!!
My husband is a professional driver. When we met, I finally had my permit. I had driven quite often, but not gone for my license. My test was scheduled when my husband decided I was to live with him. I was forbidden to take the test. I was not to drive. My job was to be a wife. No problem! Being a wife and mother is all I've ever wanted! I cooked, cleaned, shopped (he usually sat up front). I was charming and tolerant.
I was the female.
He worked. I began paying bills. His landscaper quit. I mowed the grass (push mower! I wasn't allowed to drive the riding lawnmower!). I had to empty trash, and bring it to the road. He couldn't grill. He refused lovemaking. He couldn't plunge the toilet. He couldn't fix a loose board.
I was the male. Not allowed to wear nail polish or dresses. Not even a nightgown. No bubble baths or reading a book.
He watched soap operas and cried when he didn't get his way.
A man does what he must for the well being of his family. He is the one that protects.
A woman does what she must for the well being of her family. She is the one that nurtures.
No. That isn't every household. It is my idea of roles.
I keep typing a paragraph, and deleting it. I keep thinking it's too long or confusing.
I can't explain further. I just can't find the words. Sorry.
I really wasn't talking about careers or the choices like that. I was referring to the fact that somehow in our culture today we have a lot of problems with either gender fulfilling traditional roles or being more classically masculine or feminine. It is like a lot of other areas where we swing radically one way or the other instead of finding a middle ground where some people are traditional and some people go the other direction. Also there are distinct differences in how men and women think even use their brain, and while there are some people that cross that boundary there are many that don't. These perspective differences should not be lost to or made wrong by those people who seem to think we should all be the same or are all the same when that is clearly not the case.Dear Dax and MC
