EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I had to come in, been outside working it is getting so hot I can't handle the heat anymore today.

Time to rest and re-hydrate after working in the sun. I think it got to 62. I am not ready for this heat this early!
Wow, only 62? I've been out cleaning brooders and doing crap in 98 degree afternoon heat. ^.^

I've been feeding my birds frozen fruit to cool them down and I even hosed my turkey off. He didn't run away, even if he wasn't super happy about being soaked like a goose.

Bummer. :-( When that happened to me I took one of the hen's chicks and put it in the brooder with the rejected chick to keep it company. But yours sounds like it will have company soon!
None of these were her babies. She just went broody, so I stuck her in a crate with some eggs, then all these chicks hatched at once, so I took her eggs and gave them to her daughter who's now broody in a dog crate to give her something to hatch and break her of it, and snuck all these babies under her.

She started off with 3, then I hatched 9 more, she accepted 8 of the 9.... so she's up to 11 babies. If I lose a couple, I don't really care because I didn't expect all these eggs to hatch. I didn't turn them much, did a staggered batch, forgot to fix the humidity a few times, and the eggs were found in a nest of 12+ and had no idea how long the eggs had been there. hahaha

I already knew you were crazy, no worries

even with ducks zipping should be no more than 90 minutes
today's high here in central New Hampshire was 38°
She has been trying I'd say she has been trying to zip for about an hour an a half. Should I assist?

Uhhh, it takes at least two of anything to make a row

Shhh. Don't shatter my illusions of sanity that way.

You're not human, so....

Leastaways I don't think you are. 90° has me fighting to stay upright if I'm in it for long.

In 98 degree temps, I would be passed out on the ground trying to reach for a cold one..OR in front of the AC begging for air.
