EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I'm motivated to do outside chores but not much to do in the rice paddies. I bought a couple bales of pine shavings cause all the coops need to be cleaned but I have to run all the chickens out into the storm to do so. Most of the coops are quite small so I can get most of them done in about an hour each. The rain would have to slow down a lot though or the shavings would be all wet before I could get them into the building.

Hey, is it raining down your way?

Surprise, it's raining here. The local weatherman just said another 24 hours of moderate to heavy rain and we might dry out for a few days after that. I better get the grass cut this time.
It is actually not raining here this morning, but it is 42 and windy. Across all the standing water it feels chilly this damp. We are supposed to see the sun today :)

I'd throw some eggs into the incubator so if their 2 eggs fail, you can quickly replace them with developing eggs or hatchlings.

But I only gave them two because I don't want more birds right now. I am hoping they each get a baby to make them happy. If none hatch, I can decide to break or call a local dealer.

Cold and windy here too. They were predicting some wet snowflakes overnight.
If not tomorrow, we should have sun over the weekend. WOO HOO!!
40 MPH gusts tonight. Flash flooding in the smaller streams from this round of rain just as the medium to larger rivers are cresting. They opened one of the interstates this morning.

Funny, I wanted a broody with my reds so I put a couple of EE in that coop. No broodies when you want one :/

So did you plant anything?

I am trying to decide a couple of things for my trip. First, does anyone know of some type of belt or strap I can use to hang things around my waist or across the front with or without a backpack? There are so many things to carry several of which need to be within easy/quick reach.

Second given that I will have bear spray, a stun flashlight, a straight knife, etc., within reach, and my studies in martial arts do you think I should take my concealed carry or skip it, and the airline hassle? @jwlpoultry
