Really all they really want is out. Or in, they make so much noise in the morning and I understand that but at 6:00 every evening they all come out of the woods to the gate and make even MORE noise to let me know they want back in the coop.

Friend of mine rescued an abandoned duckling around Easter and wants help with sexing and breed info. I also plan on doing a post in the "What breed/sex is this" part of the forum but I figured I'd ask. Here's the lil quacker:

Ditto! Thus this discussion! Duck poo is too liquidy! They seem to eat more, are louder and their eggs smell odd even when cooked.

At our old house my chickens free ranged. They did great - they didn't even use the coop or need extra food. We gave them kitchen scraps and some corn (which they didn't need).

Yeah, my chickens survived well (always were cuddled in the coop of course...) Only had a few die, The nice ones....

Some of my dogs would probably at least scare them sometimes, but there are the neighbor's dogs too. I'd rather not risk it. Plus, my parents don't want them free ranging again - they want them far from the house.
