EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I was trying to get my garden all in today.....but it didn't happen rain.
But I got a good start..... potatoes, corn, beans, and potatoes are in.
Then thee sky opened up.
It's been pouring for almost two weeks here, it's finally started to dry up, I got a decent harvest today. I hope to have four or five times that in a couple weeks.

Morning all :frow!

It is definitely slow in here! Took me less than 15 minutes to get caught up from yesterday around noon.

I like the new format just fine - some things are better, some are worse. IDK about anyone else, but I'm just super busy with outdoor stuff plus work, so I'm not on as much, or I read, but don't post.

it's also my birthday....i was born on the 20th anniversary of D Day....6/6/64

Happy Birthday!!!!!

I don't get on as many threads anymore either....i pretty much stick to 2. And pop in here once in a while.
I'm guessing it'll get easier as everyone gets more used too it.

Weird - I actually am MORE likely t get on another thread in the new version than in the old. I think it's just patterns of clicking and navigation we get used to.

I have a couple of double yolkers in the bator. Most don't make it. I have hatched several though, though usually only one chick survives or is even alive.

So last night I see a pip in the DY. Thinking it would take hours to zip and probably eventually need help, I forgot about it. 4 hours later the shell is empty and there is just one huge damp chick with a HUGE belly. It can hardly walk.
Seems like chick #2 probably died and is inside chick #1.
I have suspected that this has happened before.
This morning it is just fine, waddling around.

That is seriously freakin' weird. :sick

Making a big batch of stock. Again. (Last of the stock from the carcasses for the cull.) Deja vu all over again. Once it settles down into a nice simmer, I gotta head out and work on moving brush and setting up paddocks. No rest for the wicked...

Yep. They act up, give 'em back. I get to spoil them, & Mama gets to deal with them. Paybacks can be a beech ;)

Yeppers,, Grandkids are great...

I get from my kids....."You can't give them that..or Do that with them"...

My response is always the same. I am grandpa, I can do anything I want.... Now the kids have picked that up too..

"He's Grandpa he can do what he wants"... I love em!!!

And Payback is..

So... I lost my sweet Chrissy tonight. I made the decision to let her go after seeing how her quality of life had just plummeted.

I didn't post the details here but she was suffering.

Thanks, y'all, for offering advice and support. I got to spend 6 more precious months with my little girl.
So very sorry :hit :hugs
Loosing any pet to death is hard, but the ones we are closest to and have to choose to let go... :hugs
