Any hungry humans close by?

My live trap for four legged critters is always set. I haven't caught anything since I ran out of Old Roy dog food. Time for a store run.

I don't think it's people cause the dogs alert to anyone just walking down the road, even if the dogs are in we know if someone is walking by plus when they're outside they don't take kindly to strange people walking up.

Wait ..... they made a forest out of sand dunes???

LOL and it has driven the "naturalist nuts" When I was a kid there were so many grass fires here and the blowing sand was unbelievable.

I am sure it was a remnant of the dust bowl years. unlike Whites, I never lived through the dust bowl years. :lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau

The ag Extension agent and the University $H leader head CEO, whatever she was called started planting pine trees to stop the blowing. It did wonders, the state bought up the land that was for sale and the tax forfiet land which there was tons of and they planted pine trees. Then protected the trees to keep the soil stable making this a better place to live..

Fast forward to today, we have leaders that think the past should be re-created so they are cutting the trees, and planting native flowers (ROFLMAO).. the native plant was sand burrs and tumble weeds...

Of course, My Great-great Grandfather and Great Grandfather helped create the sand dunes in the first place when they came here in the mid 1800' s. The back to the future bunch do not take any of this into account. in their sanitized version of nature.

The feds condemned 32,000 acres of land, including 440 acres of high river bluff land from our family ( 1 1/2 miles of frontage) and made a large Goose refuge in 1969.

They did not stop to think once you kick the farmers off the land the geese have nothing to eat and move on.. This is the only place in the midwest to have less geese today than in 1965.

I get on a rant about this fairly easy,,,can you tell?:old

I'm missing seven in this last week, can't find a single trace. :(
Thanks. :)
Lady Elaine is among the missing, she was my favorite Pekin. At least I got one last duckling from her. It better be a girl!
