EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

@Akrnaf2 That video was disgusting on so many levels..... I have no idea what he did to get the bird to walk again. BUT doing that is something I would like to see him sit in jail for a couple years for. Terrible, inhumane!

I am going to process that bird of mine today, most likely. Even if she does not have a broken bone. I need to be careful of which Toad I allow to breed. I am using such inbred genetics I just can't allow the chance of her genes staying in the shallow pool I have now.

I actually discussed bringing another round of Rainbow genes back into the mixture with one of the Toad flock owners. It will have to be done carefully on a small basis to see if I can fix the problems without losing the bird I have..... I need another 20 years to do this project I am afraid...

Take care all 88 degrees here already.....not good

Good morning.
Good morning Phil
Thanks , l want to buy 3 used naturform hatcher (nom480 for ostrich farm)
A friend of mine actually turned their bathroom into an incubator for their now extinct Emu business. Don't recommend doing that as humidity was messing the walls of the bathroom up

Well, it only took her 5 years. Henrietta is broody. I'd rather she didn't hatch her and Jazzy's eggs, but it's all I've got.

If this helps give perspective at all...it took me about 10 years to increase longevity by approximately 3 years (as in my sheep, both males and females, will live 3 years longer than any I bring into the herd without fail) with our purebred sheep which do not allow crossing. There were definite setbacks from heritable issues at the beginning that required culling.

But since you may have an initial quicker turnover due to the bird's genes/physical attributes...you may see quicker results. Any ram I bring into the flock drops me back several years because they haven't been culled and developed as I've done. Same as you and with chickens in general...it's size and quickness to market or quickness to lay. Other important attributes are forgotten. It's very frustrating.

I agree with you both.
But some remarks if I may
1. Cruelty have not a fixed definition, it is by the viewer point of view.
I am sure thst there are people, vegan for example, that think that what we are doing with ouer birds, or you shooting a dear, is not less disgusting.
2. I object to the term " inhuman " to describe somthing Cruel. Because the biggest AUTHORITIES in history was made, and ARE made by humans. The Holocaust, ISIS, Caligula, Nero cizar, the inquisition in the Catholic world, the slavery in the US, ect, ect
So please spare me the "moral fasads" of humanity.
3. You should distinguish between the brutal injury of the bird, and the its amazing recovery !
