I feel ya. I've lost around a dozen broilers this week, I can't find anything wrong, they just drop dead. Nothing wrong with the laying chicks and the coop is split in half between large broilers and smaller and the small broiler have shown no problems either, it's just the one pen of larger broilers. We lost one of our favorite EE chickens. My daughter was upset. She went out to the coop and the poor chicken was dead as a doornail on the ground.
I mean, with the heat index we've had so far, I'm surprised we haven't had more deaths. It's just been so hot with high humidity and the poor birds don't do that great.
I need to take 4 of these boy goats to auction, sometime in the next couple weeks, too. My husband keeps telling me it will cost almost as much in gas to drive there, as we'd get for them, and all I can say is "so? at least they'll be gone?" haha
I've tried so many thing to get them to stop dropping dead. Just the usual.... Keeping the Rugrats from tearing down the house.

Ah, lol

Well, at least you're half rightI'm certain the Mrs. is on the list, so that's three, and Sally, so four.

Ahhh, my numbers are creeping up.
Yeah. Well they're only about 3 1/2 to 4lbs so not even really a decent carcass yet.I've heard the larger birds are prone to heart attacks and any kind of stress sets them off. that their bodies just cannot maintain their frames/size??
Maybe butcher them earlier? Or.... i don't know.![]()
