Good morning everyone!!!

@ronott1 suggested an ingenius idea...instead of turning each egg by hand...place something under one end of the incubator to tip it! I imagine the eggs would have to be held stationary but it would save having to turn them all.

I haven't tried it...yet. I stopped turning altogether last fall to see how that woild turn out. They got turned when I candled.

I couldn't do without my turners. There's no way id be turning them all by hand lol. I feel like the slight jostling then get in the turner helps make them stronger.

As for broodies, I don't trust them with anything! If I want something to hatch, it goes in the incubator.

Touching each egg daily with your dirty hand?? Ewwwww Germs!!!

Even opening the incubator 3 times a day??? Humidity loss and germs!!Ewwwww

I think this one is another Chickeneers Myth. There are lots of them.

You disinfect your eggs. If one washes their hands...personally I like using my gloves (Kiki...that's enough out of you!) because the glove gives a better grip on the egg, you're not going to be introducing THAT much to the egg.

See I'm completely different in my thoughts here...I want only the best shelled/toughest embryos to survive...and the less than ideal shelled ones to not make it. That instantly weeds out the inferior shelled eggs and inferior embryos. Survival of the fittest right from the beginning.

I can't hatch anymore chicks, until half our flock dies of old age now. LOL
However, I totally allowed my silkie to hatch whatever eggs they feel like it *shrugs* it's a total compromise, right?
