(Gee my timing to catch up is bad)

I hope that they get they're butts in gear and get things back on track for you. I hear you...it can be funny how things seem to go with those who choose what's going to happen. :hugs
It is what it is... no hard feelings. Thousands lost their homes. We still have walls and a roof. We are blessed and spared from the grim reaper.. life is good for us. I feel sorrow for those hit hardest.

They turned on the landline and internet! Life is sunnier today. Only it takes electricity to power the modem..:lau:lau:lau

Bobby screwed plywood over the neighbors window this morning. Bottle fed water to the adult pigs since the pump runs on 240 and our gererator is 110. Water tank is low. It has rained everyday since May, flooding the farm until the power outage. Now hot and dry... go figure.
Our freezers are across town and frozen.. that is all I need to make me feel comfortable.
I don't know how bob can consume that jack d... I feel like :sick
I have a zillion pics. I have been on my phone the last few daze with cruddy overloaded 3G. Back on a tablet today with gasoline internet

We have so many eggs in the refrigerator its not funny. Now the phone is back on maybe sells will start again. Meet me at the massive hickory tree blocking the road, and I'll hand you the eggs thru the branches:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:th
Is there a reason that the locals haven't opened the road with chainsaws?

Possibility! There's a grocery chain here in the U.S. that frequently has fertile eggs mixed in with non-fertile. I'd tell you the name of the chain, but I don't know it; none of them near me. Wouldn't do you any good regardless; surely they wouldn't have any stores in your neighborhood.
I just signed up for our local farm fresh to you service and they sell fertile eggs!
I may need to get a dozen and pop them into the incubator to see what they are....

We use a spray bottle with 50/50 listeren and water. Have to let it evaporate before setting the lid. It kills 99.9% of germs and prevents gingivitis in the new born chicks.

I am liking your dark sense of humor. :p Does the listerine not make the eggs a bit tacky? Or is that worth the gingivitis prevention? :p

I haven't tried for incubation purposes...but a five day old embryo can survive 12 hours easily in a pail left out in the sun and wind in moderate temps. I'm thinking it was about 70 degrees. And they also survive the same amount of hours with zero issues at 6C (42.8) with zero losses.

One out of two 5-day old embryos survived 2.5 days being left cold at about 18C (64.F) She has slightly crooked toes on one foot...but until I do a controlled hatch I won't know if the hiatus was the cause. :)

I tried Lysol, (I like Lysol) but found it was too harsh of a residual smell. My tried and true is Virkon or Hibitane (chlorhexidine) Hibitane has zero smell and is what I use for wounds etc disinfection because it's safe for tissue.

I don't wash my eggs...but I plan on trying bleaching some of mine next year to ensure I can do it successfully so I can disinfect purchased eggs.
(Purchased eggs make me extremely nervous)
