EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I have wondered about those eggs......But I never hatched any as I am really trying to get all SOP birds..and my pet EE's...
Did it more for fun to see if it would work. Wouldn't do it again. While they laid well the eggs weren't worth selling and they could eat quite a bit as well. Never bred them with anything that I kept.

What a beautiful morning.. Creature comforts restored. House is a mess. Cleaning up. On 5th load of laundry. The floors are filthy. With lights you can see the mess now.
I still hear the generator running but its off.
:thumbsup
Really glad your power is back. We've had the power out here for a week two years in a row. Generators can only do so much. Really can't imagine the power out with that mess. :th

It was a reality check. The water pump is back on and the swine are spending a lot of time on the water nips. Had to give them troft water for a week. Still water is dangerous and a health hazard. We are giving them ivernmictin this afternoon. Goats all got cydectin this morning. we put off on trimming the goat hoofs and now we have our work cut out. Trimmed 2 of the worst ones.
. Found 3 dead hens under the deck this morning. Actually my nose found them. Got to run to town for something to treat the poultry with. They can't be there from when the storm hit I don't think.
Thanks for your concerns and support:hugs

Me too, glad the power is back,.....

Life will return to normal soon..

@Pensmaster I want to try hatching an egg without the shell now like that video..I am kind of afraid I will just end up with a rotten egg in a glass wrapped in cellophane.
If it's the video I'm thinking of they didn't show the sterile environment that was necessary, and the chick they showed was older than just hatched.

Don't try it, it was discussed in this trhed long time ago, and it wasn't so easy !
Did you thought about the gases exchange? They used a special Matirial and have had a controld oxygen supply in the bator, you WILL get a stinky egg!

I saw the week old chick, in the video. I would have like to see the hatching.

I am MR. Sterile..... I know the introduction of bacteria chances are high. BUT would still be so cool to try.

Another reason to disinfect everything all the time is in case you want to hatch an egg without a shell.

Air exchange was a thing I worried about. I wonder if I can find a substance that will work...
