EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Some times CL is awful: A man brought his kids and gave a low offer for all of my chicks. He wanted a few backyard hens, but said he had a cousin on a farm that would take all the rest. He really wanted his kids to have them for Easter. I had a big family party to prepare, so a quick sale was appealing. The chicks were actually hatched for a science project & only 2 days old. DD had her results, and we had not invested a lot of $. We gave the family all the data, the genetics of the parents, the color coded leg bands, and the exact time each chick pipped, zipped, and hatched. 48 hours later, I saw OUR chicks on CL for 2- 3xs the price he paid for them!!!!! He didn't even remove the chicks' leg bands for his postings. He called them "Easter chicks."

Another time a lady & her boyfriend came to look at chicks. They stayed for 90 min asking ?s. She was sending pics to friend who was a vet & trying to pick out only females. I kept telling her that wing sexing doesn't work with orps - at least not my line. She insisted that she wanted my fancy English Orps and was convinced she had all females. I refused to confirm that they were any gender and kept repeating that "straight runs" means no guarantee of gender. Finally 90 min later, she decided that she simply couldn't risk getting attached to a chick that was male, so they left. My dinner was over-cooked, my kids were hungry / crabby, my time was wasted, and no sales were made. UGH!

Can't he do his own laundry? I've done my own since about 16, it's not really that hard.

Oh he sure can, and he does all the laundry when I am sick. However, we all have the chores we do around the house, and I picked laundry. Besides, it would be a waste of resources to run a load of laundry with just the handful of items of his and an unacceptable way of living if we all just threw our belongings on the floor!

WHAT?

What else is a floor for?

OMG! Our house is 800 square feet! If all 4 of us did that we'd be up to our elbows in junk by dinner time! Though, the cat would love it. Nothing like a nice pile of stinky cloths to nap on! :lau No, no, I read a book called "the life changing magic of tidying up" and it changed my life! Who knew tidying was something you could be taught!:yesss:

We live in an OLD,,,and I mean OLD farm house. It is small on the main level. I have never had a problem with stuff on the floor....The WWD goes a little crazy over it..

BTW it is a misconception everyone can be taught neatness. 5-7% of the population has ADHD, they may want to be neat, but cannot see or figure out how to be neat. Their brains do not work that way.

I'm gonna totally disagree!! My husband and FIL both are diagnosed adults with ADD (DH was adhd when child but grew out of hyperactivity as most adults do!) and TOTALLY learned how to be tidy. Their brains work just fine that way. I'm telling you, that book opened my eyes to how easy tidying could be! :celebrate
