I forgot I posted that I was pee-ed off because my competition on Craigslist lowered their prices by $5 when I posted my ad. they undersell me and they do it all the time. I read the ads on Craigslist and tried to match the average prices. but as soon as I post my ad, A day later I look at the ads posted previously and I read and they all dropped $5. we have so much competition in our area it's crazy. And also with the pigs, when we started there wasn't as much competition but now that anyone can buy a boar cheap everybody is breeding and the market is flooded with pigs driving the prices Rock Bottom making it impossible to profit off a litter of pigs anymore.
We only break even if we are lucky. The only perk would be considered the fresh meat supply in our freezers.

So it is a dead end as an income source! Bread for your own consumption!
Try to breed somthing exotic I once mentioned this bird the Tinamou that have wonderful eggs

and they are a very popular meat birds in South America, or breed guinea fowl for meat, or quails for meat and eggs.

I can remember wanting snow as a kid. I think it’s snowed once in the town we lived in. Probably 50 ft elevation.

Back in from judging which rooster survives. Unfortunately the loudest one wins so far. 3 more Altsterier roosters to check. 4 in the fridge. 15 hens to judge tomorrow if I get that far. Keeping 8 hens I think.

I just ran mine into their pen for the night. I found one that might survive. the legbars are so slow maturing, I find a winner now and then in my cull/supper/pre-freezer pen.
