EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Hey there everyone... Just pulled my homemade incubator out after 3 moves a fire and storage and I have exposed wires.. So now i will have to reread all the information and figure out what popped off and fix it. Lol which is fine, i need a good refreshers course anyway.
Linda!!! Where have you been?? :hugs

Yes I read this about 3 times lol still unsure of myself haha...they are chicken eggs and my temps have remained a constant 99 only flucuatating a couple degrees here and there
Small fluctuations should not hurt. 99 sounds low did you verify your thermometer was correct? Eggs hatching a day early usually means higher temps. Was the thermometer at top of egg?
The assisting part gets easier as you go. Have they internally pipped?

Ok bantams hatch early I think. Never hatched them but that’s what I remember. Any other small breeds?

My bantams always hatch ahead of my full size chicks. But, I run my temps at 100.4 to 100.6. Temps that are too low, can cause the eggs to hatch late. You said floating....when chicks are fully grown, there is no room for them to move, there should be no fluid visible in there. Only the air cell with hopefully a draw down dip where they are starting to get ready to hatch.

I’ll give you that. How’s weather treating you. Rain here has been moved out so maybe my septic will be worked on Tuesday after all.
No rain, we are in full summer! 22-23 C° really bad situation for all nature and farmers. We have the best desalination technology here, almost 40% from our water come from it, but it is for human consumption not agriculture or wild plants and animals. We are in a rampaging desertification process.

The S/V ratio is hitting again.
