How many Chickens are laying an egg in this tiny basket?View attachment 1383765
4 Adult Hens are in this tiny basket. These birds are 100%/ 24-7 days a week/365 days a year FREE. They come and go as they please. BUT- the little white bird has gone hard broody(on the left). I chuck her out of that nest several times a day, everyday. The other hens just jump on top of her and deposit their egg for the day. There are 5 more hens on the barn floor waiting for a spot in the basket. My "free ladies all get in a line and wait for the group to do their thing before returning to the yard. This happens everyday. Makes my day to see all my gals made it thru the night and are in line.. day after day.. View attachment 1383772
:clap Your hens might be crazier than mine!

Mike! :frow I have been better. But, I'm sure things could always be worse. ;)

How have you been?

I hope things improve for you!

Doing good here. Kidding season went well. All kids sold. Trying to get caught up with spring cleanup at the house so I can get to the lake cottage and get dock and boats into the water. Hopefully the dock will go in Sunday or Monday. Then a few days of rain, then the boats. Oh, need to get the garden out too.

Whatcha planting?

Sold 15 older hens yesterday and rooster.

Getting some chicks for lone chick is proving difficult seems chick season is drawing to a close here. I was going to put it in a divided cage in brooder with the 4 week chicks but they are getting big and even though it would be divided they may look a little intimidating to it.

Haven’t checked the garden much this week. Super windy here yesterday good thing plants aren’t very tall yet. 40 mile winds tend to knock things over. Fortunately no power outage as I have some eggs in incubator. 3 different batches going. Same breed different breeders.

I need to pull some weeds, then start getting the plants in. Maybe today, maybe not.

I need help. I opened an air sac on an egg I didn’t think was alive and it is. All the membranes are intact. No pip yet. I think it may even be a duck because candling it just doesn’t look fully developed yet. Should I re-cover the air sac with press n seal or something?
