Vicious cycle for sure

5 chicks out now. One of the White Cornish still hasn’t pipped. Large draw down so maybe.

Congrats on the hatch. I just finished my LAST HATCH for the year - it has to be. Out of 23 eggs, only got 12 chicks, one of which I had to cull. A week ago, I hatched eggs for a friend, and her's all hatched between day 20 and 21. Same incubator for both sets, other than the 4 days of the other hatch. Both are calibrated the same. My chicks hatched 1 late on day 21, 10 on day 22, and 1 late day 23. We did have a 5 or 6 hour power outage around day 14. We've been in the 80's, so I can't imagine that slowed it down. Frustrating!

That’s for sure. This is also my last hatch. Until fall. Three are in brooder now. Two later ones will go tomorrow still nothing from the last shipped white Cornish. Mine were early so even if it goes tomorrow it will only be day 22. I did help the last one of mine it had mostly pipped all the way around but was stuck in membrane. Which was strange as all the others did fine and humidity is/was at 65-75%

You going to use vinyl siding, or wood, like T111?

Yea the brace was a quick grab something to hold this truss in place. Isn’t need now, sun tends to warp things fast that isn’t nailed down.
I think I have access to some Masonite siding still hunting that up. I will be taking down the coop in back and might use the old scaffolding boards from it as siding. The scaffold boards give it a log cabin look. And allows for more ventilation than regular siding does.
Biggest expense will be roofing. Going to go with white composition for reflective values of heat.
Really wasn’t ready for the cost of the hardware cloth either.

I can’t wear any footwear but the boots. We are expecting rain tomorrow. I’d like to cut grass, but can’t take the vibration. Fortunately, the grass isn’t too long.

You'd think I'm a hoarder if you saw all the small pieces of 1/4" HWC I have; anything that I can conceivably use later. Just made a warm weather pop door a couple weeks ago.

Gosh you guys with all your rain. Very dry here but it’s supposed to be. Fire at my brothers is just across the lake from him. Decent sized lake but still too close

Hi everyone!!!

I agree, all this talk of rain!! We need some down here as well. I really hope your brother is safe. Have they evacuated him yet? I heard about some new evacuations this morning.

No fires around me, thankfully there isn't much left to burn after the Thomas fire. We've had a couple fires that have popped up in Beverly Hills and the surrounding hills - they were put out in hours if not days. I think some of those folks have their own personal fire fighting teams.

I wish there was some way to pump the water from the areas that are prone to floods, out to the areas that need the water.

You know if you look to your west you might see the largest body of water on the planet. A few desalination plants and CA's water problems are over. Maybe do that rather than the high speed rail.
