EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I have hatched quail but always for friends.... I have such a bad addiction that several friends have discovered if they show up at my place with eggs I will hatch them...... and give them the babies. lol this last batch of quail we ended up with 27ish ??/ out of 43 eggs 11 were non starters and we went into lockdown with 31.... all in all I felt it went really well... quail seem to Pop like popcorn, nothing going on then you look in the bator and Poof there are like a million of em running around!View attachment 1561390
Mornin Alicia! How have you been> they are really cool to hatch aint they! I remember the first time and it was 40 button quail and omg I opened the old styro bator and they went everywhere! and yes, one fell off on the floor but it was ok! lol lesson learned there!!

:duc WOW CWD has 18 to 24 months incubation and no clinical signs until very late incubation! Mule deer, Moose, Elk all susceptible, they say its sorta like Mad Cow disease, it basically eats holes in the brain and makes it like a soft sponge :( I would have loved the job of the net gun and jump from the copter :) how fun would that be if I was young and fit. Although seeing those deer would suck:barnie

People Who Eat Deer And Elk With Chronic Wasting Disease

it suggests that it MAY NOT be transmittable to humans but then at the end this coment says.....
""The fact that the squirrel monkeys, like the deer and elk, suffered severe weight loss suggests that chronic wasting disease might affect a common region of the brain in different species," notes Dr. Chesebro"

this was my 3rd go with quail..and the best hatch rate yet.. I feel like my incubation process has improved greatly over the last 2 years. I may be getting ready to get serious about the chickens that I keep on purpose.... now to decide on what I really want.
