EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

View attachment 1592762 View attachment 1592763 View attachment 1592765 View attachment 1592767 I know this in an incubation thread but you guys help with chickens problems, so hoping you can help as I did not get many answers when I posted this on the illnesses section.

I just moved house and it came with an old (6-8) year old hen. I said I would look after her till she died. She has a problem with her comb/ head. As she is semi ferral I can't get hold of her to look better. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
It seems to me like a combination of a frost bite/ necrosis of the comb, and some kind of tumor. (That gray -brown thing over her right side eye.)

@aart maybe? @sourland ?, @casportpony ? If pony don't know, I bet she knows who does.
I'm putting my money on some internal malady.
Are we asking about this bird?

I doubt it's frostbite...looks like some kind of tumor.

Thanks for your help thoughts.
We don't get frost here at all. I am wondering if the gray mass is not actually comb but hard puss-like exudate or a tumor as Akrnaf2 suggested.
It has to be pretty cold to get frost bite....I regularly hit 25 below here and I've only had a little bit of minor frost bite on my roosters comb... none of my hens combs have ever gotten it.
Heck we are only 3 Above this morning and I'm not worried about them
