Snowflake quail! Bobwhites, correct? I'm so jealous. Those are neat. No, they can't free range, but I have kept them in with chickens before.
It's not too bad. Starting with pairs or trios is pretty common.
I'm a bit of a quail nerd, lol! I really enjoy them. They're entertaining. They are the dearest little things!
I am pretty sure they are bobwhites. Your enthusiasm encourages me! They are beautiful. I did some reading and it seems like they should be low maintenance. I wonder if my kids can take them on as 4-H projects. Do they go broody or will I be incubating?
Do you have the legal right to shoot them in a case like this?I had a near miss yesterday. Three stray dogs showed up while my chickens were free ranging. Someone was looking out for me because I happened to be outside when they arrived, and somehow managed to get everyone into the coop with only a bit of slobber (from the dogs) and screaming (from me). I managed to track down the owners. They live a couple miles away and have a habit of escaping their kennel. This isn't the first time they've shown up, but it better be the last now that I have my chickens.
