I start after colostrum as soon as they're getting regular milk since I pull my kids and bottle feed so I don't have to do the other. since I started doing that I haven't had issues with coccidia. if I have one on a doe which is rare or if I get a case I use the 40% injectable. it also helps that I start kidding in January and february, so before it gets real wet and nasty here my kids are bigger. I would rather have my heated room and have to keep them warm when necessary then have them small when the parasites come out followed by barber pole since we have real issues with that here.Oops she wouldn't eat the med pellets like the other 2 kids I kept.
yes, the rapid eye movements are common with listeria. when I get it I treat with a large dose of Thiamine and some B complex plus penicillin like 5c or 6 cc's every 6 hours until the symptoms are gone for 24 hours (Thiamine and B given twice a day after the first dose or two). yes she had the same thing with couldn't get up rapid eye movements head tilt and not eating right. she did not do the stargazing or circling like others, but they don't have to do all the symptoms either. I have seen the circling and stargazing with both though stargazing to me is closer to polio. not that it matters if they recover quickly with Simon it's usually polio but like I was told by my vet you have to treat for both you don't have time to find the answers because they'll be dead before you had them.Oh and her eyes. While she was sick they jolted up and down up and down. I took videos it was weird she didnt have head thrown back it's like u said, tilted weird and couldn't walk well. She kept falling but she could get up. Thank God we only have a few and keep an eye on them!! The baby monitor alerted Husband in middle of night of her cry and her falls.
