Got quarter inch of ice and a dusting of snow. Right now, temp is 18°F with wind chill of 4°F. have I mentioned I hate cold and wind? got home this morning, temp inside is 73°F but the pipes were almost frozen, turned on the faucet and it just dribbled out, I didn't open the cabinet doors so I guess the cold slipped in from the outside wall.

Started the day here at a balmy 24 , the wind is still blowing like crazy but the sun is shining!

It was 21 here in Austin this morning. All chickens were alive and well despite having no functional waterers for probably 24 hrs. Nice surprise as one of my girls decided this weather was the time to restart egg production.

I hear ya. Same thing happened to me. I was dog tired and fell asleep on the sofa last night. The Mrs forgot to run the dishwasher last night which is my usual way to keep water flowing on the pipe to the kitchen and the cabinet under the sink wasn't left open. So now we have no running cold tap water from that faucet and a bunch of dirty dishes. Thankfully the hot water is still running and I saved 3 gallons of tap water in a Cambro, just in case.

I got one that goes broody on the coldest day of the year. But that is just for the last 5 years. No sign yet.

More winter weather coming though.
