Ha, you don't have any scales on your handle.
I used paracord wrapping .
I think that it will be good for you.but in my opinion you should grind some of the lower part of the cleaver to make a groove that will prevent the paracorde from slipping (?) From the handel. See this.

Yes, 2 pcs of wood, micarta, or any other materials used for covering the knife tang.

It used to but when I found it all rusty the wood had deteriorated. Thus the need for a handle. Or scales

You can make them from any hard wood. Oak is a good choice. If you cant get any brass pins, you can use some air conditioning Cupper tubing, or even some big nails as pins. For glue
You should use a havy duty epoxy glue(at least 2500 psi)

I have an oak burl.
Is olive too soft. It’s really pretty and I have plenty.

I think it will do, but the wood should be dry. And you are right it is really beautiful.
