EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

When our chicken group used to have coop tours, we all had boot baths outside of gates.
I kept a box of plastic disposable boot covers for all visitors.
One guy thought I was kidding when I told him he had to wear them.
I just have a bottle of vicron that I usually have people spray with for the day they came they were already in the yard by the time they got my attention since I was out in the barnyard and I came to them and didn't remember to go get it. I got real careful with that stuff when I had that problem with my chickens.

I'm quite concerned about mail.
I have to mail chicks to California on Sunday.
Every news station I watched yesterday and today said it is too late to mail in election ballots because they might not get there in time to be counted. Six days isn't enough time
What will that do to my chicks?
The reports said that right now some states have rates as low as 70% of mail arriving on time. Mostly swing states.
yes cuz they Mass mailed these unrequested ballots going to who knows who. that should not even be legal. the requirement has always been you vote in person and the exception was originally made for military members and people later with extenuating circumstances. You should have to go or request that absentee ballot. this thing is not bad enough that you shouldn't have to at least request a ballet. then we might have a chance of verifying who's actually voting. not that there isn't lots of fraud with that but with this unrequested balance to just everybody on the list. list that aren't purged regularly of those who have moved or died or whatever. this is just ripe for fraud especially with them petitioning that it can come in for multiple days and other court cases that you don't have to signature verify it's insane what's going on.

A virus outbreak in flock isn't a joke st all! Only people that have animals, and understand how pathogens transfer themselves, can understand you.

They're sure being careful here. My husband had a thing sent back to him to write his signature again. I wasn't paying that much attention when he signed his name on the back of the envelope, my daughter in law saw, said he.. printed his name. She didn't think anything of it..but, they didn't recognize it as his normal signature..so..be had to do it again. I explained to him to sign cursive. . Or to better explain to him.. like he normally does. Not sure why he printed the first time. His writing ..and reading is getting harder for him. He sure knows who he wants to vote for though! lol.

We voted Monday morning. It was the first time in my life I didn't vote on the first Tuesday in November except when I voted absentee twice when I was in the army.
We had to sign a computer screen with a rubber tipped pen. My signature never looks right on those things. I hope they don't kick mine out.
Missouri is really strict on one's reasons for absentee voting which is how they categorize early voting here. I think it is crazy. My wife said she had to work next Tuesday, which she does.
I told them the reason I was voting early is that it always takes from 4 to 6 hours to vote in my precinct - which it does. They accepted my answer.
It feels like they don't want us to vote up here in my neighborhood. If I lived 15 or 20 miles away in west county, I could walk right in and vote in minutes. Up here the line always snakes through the building, out the door, around the building and up the hill to the road.
I wish they made it easier to vote rather than harder. Some states automatically register a person to vote and all voting is by mail with ballots going out to every person of voting age. That would be sweet.

Oh yeah! The screen writing! 🤣. Crazy. I think they're just being extra careful with the mail ins.

My DH and I are just going to go to the polls on Tuesday to do it. It's easy here. There's rarely a line at all when we go in and the few workers there are our neighbors.
I wish that were the case here.
We were planning on enduring the line on election day when I procrastinated to the point of not getting the mail-in ballots in time. Plus with our mail, I wasn't convinced that would work.
When lines for early voting at the board of election commissioners were hours long, they opened 4 county satellite polling places. Luckily one was about 5 minutes or so from our house. It took us about 45 minutes.
A friend who had a hip replacement a week ago ordered a mail in ballot before her surgery. It still hasn't arrived and now they say it is too late to mail them. I'm going to take her to the city polling place tomorrow. Hopefully she won't have to stand too long. Maybe we'll bring a chair for her.
After a quarter of a millennium, I think it is time to lose the electoral college.
It made sense in the 1700s. It no longer does.
In every other election (other than the presidential), it is one person, one vote. Same in every other country in the world.
