EE 21 weeks, hen or roo?

The eggs might be fertilized if you have a cockerel or rooster. Do you have one or only pullets? How old are these girls?

I have 6 pullets. They are all 6 months old. I don’t have a roo, and my girls are only let out when I’m with them. The neighbor has a roo, but we all have so much acreage that I only hear him. I’ve never seen him.

Agree that those are pullet EEs... And you may have a closet cockerel, or your neighbor's rooster may be coming for conjugal visits.

These are all of my “girls”... the four that were walking in my mulch eating the weeds all squat for me. They are the ones that I’m pretty sure are laying.

I don’t think the neighbor’s roo can get to my girls. Their coop/run is pretty secure with hardware cloth. I don’t let them out unless I am with them, and I don’t think the neighbor free ranges his at all. We have 15 acres, and he has several as well. He’s pretty far away. I just hear his roo, and I don’t even know what he looks like.

Then the eggs are not likely to be fertilized. Not sure why people (friends?) were telling you they were fertilized! Definitely need cockerel or rooster involvement for fertilized eggs! Enjoy your girls and their eggs!

She's being told they're fertilized because of the bull's eyes in the eggs. She has pics loaded on the last page.

OK. Those pics didn't load on my phone I guess. Now I see them from my computer. Of those, only 1 looks like it might have a bullseye, with the clearer ring between the outer ring and inner dot. However, I'm not very experienced at telling fertilized vs not. There are other threads where there are some good pics of yolks fertile and not.

Definitely a head scratcher if no male present, but have fertile eggs!
