I know you can't really tell at 7 days of age, but do boys and girls have different color patters or any way to help guess the gender?

I really really am hoping for a girl or else I can't keep him... I already have 3 EE roos!

What do you think??

I know I am going out on a total limb here but I say roo.

My EE boys have been pretty slow to feather and in hindsight they always photographed standing tall and as proud as can be.

Time is really the only way to tell but if you start noticing him "sparing" with the others that is a good sign it's a "he"

of the 5 chicks so far 3 look to be boys... sigh.

i really really really wanted this one to be a girl, i cannot keep another EE roo as I already have 3.

hoping against hope for a miracle!!

I wouldn't freak out now. I have had a few "suspicious" ones turn out to be pullets

One was at POL before I could tell for sure lol!

If its a roo, depending on his genetics (if he throws blue or green) he could sell very quickly on craigslist

Nugget is 12 days old now... By the feather growth on the wings, top of wings and tail I'm really hoping for a girl

(let me dream!)

BTW Nugget is not pure EE, I see some tiny white feathers on the legs... her mom or grandmom was mixed with brahma, I found out!

I was wonder this same thing too , if you could tell by feather arrangement. Half my chicks have long wing feathers and tail feathers, and the other half have 'fuzzier butts' and short one layer of wing feathers (all are 9 days old). Just like the pictures you show. I was hoping that someone would say the wings and tail feathers differentiate the girls from the boys.

BTW - your chicks are just beautiful ... and I'm loving your camera (so clear).
