I don't see any saddle feathers there. She does look like a she. If so such lovely coloring. What a beautiful bird. Do you have any other pictures of her currently?

I agree, I have 2 pullets. They are my little chicks who follow me all around the yard and come running when they see me. Love them.

Here is Bernadette as a baby:




And here she is now, at 25 weeks. Still no eggs, but hopefully soon. She has the softest plumage - my 10 year old adores her. Her comb is redder now - maybe she'll start laying before long.

Beautiful gals! Ginger looks very much like my Henny Penny. I've been looking around here for EEs with her beautiful blue/brown coloring. And Henny Penny lays beautiful blue eggs, though at 9 months old, she's only given me a handful of eggs before she went on winter strike..

I'll be posting her growing pics here as soon as I can round up baby photos. I also have 6 other youngsters I've been taking photos of for this thread. They're only 10 or so weeks old now though so I'll hold off for awhile.

This is my beautiful Sara, now.




Her eggs are the olive ones. She is always on the hunt for the perfect nest. She sneaks in the doggie door with my dog and searches the house looking for the perfect place. I have found her under my bed, in the kitchen sink, under the rocking chair, on top of the washing machine, on the couch and on my pillow. I love my crazy chickens.

Oh my goodness, they are twins!! How old was she when she laid her first egg? We are at 21 weeks and she is just starting to redden, have seen her eating the oyster shell but the only time she or her sister are in the nesting boxes is at night to sleep as they are still afraid of the Big Girls.

These were the best pics I got out of like thirty. They were having a ball hopping back and forth on the roost in the run while the bigger girls were out picking around the yard. They were moving so much I'm happy I got any decent pics at all. ^_^

I know EE's have no exact color or variety names but I'm calling the first one a Blue Copper EE and the second one a Blue Lemon EE.

Do those seem like accurate color descriptions?

Speaking of color names, we call this guy Porcelain Cheeselog. Because of his dilute coloring and the pattern of reds, golds, and lemons on his back is reminiscent of a holiday cheeselog or cheeseball. Like the ones with Port Wine or Cheddar...

Henny Penny got red and started squatting really early (5 months or so, about the same as Ginger probably) but she didn't lay her first until 31-32 weeks old. Her Barred Rock "sister" (same hatch date, raised together, love each other, and rule the coop together) didn't lay until yesterday, over 9 months. Lazy chickens.

31-32 weeks!!!! Oh gosh I hope not, but I wouldn't be surprised. Her comb is hardly developed and she shows no signs. I am betting I have to wait till the new year before I will see an egg out of either of them I'm surprised at the Barred Rock, thought they were earlier layers.

26 weeks would be wonderful. But I wouldn't surprised if they go longer :-/
