Just laying on the ground in the run, just outside the coop I found a GREEN egg! My 3 year old granddaughter and I went up to close everyone in for the night and it was just getting dark and this light egg caught my eye! I was so excited to have the first egg from my first hatched eggs, from the flock I lost and my first green egg.......and my granddaughter says "let's eat it for breakfast Mimi"

Guess I'm influencing the farmgirl!

Now trying to figure out who did it. I think my EE/EE's should lay blue still right? But this could have come from an EE/Brahma, EE/Orpington....or possibly what I think is EE/Orpington when it's really a muffless/beardless EE/EE. So....what do you think?

EE x EE can very well, and likely do lay green eggs. It's the arucana and ameraucana that lay soley blue (according to the sop)

I was wondering if any one could help identify the sex of my first hatch. The rooster was a Rhode Island Red and the hens were Easter Eggers. Below are pictures of the chicks as well as the parents. The color patterns very quite a bit and I wonder if they are random or possibly sex-linked traits. Also does any one know what color the eggs will be? Brown, green, olive?

The chicks:

The parents:
The rooster is up front, the easter egger is in back:

The dusty black chick at 10 weeks (ended up a dark blue):

I think this one was the yellow chick:
