BTW -- the roo "was" not "is"....was delicious, that is!
We live in the city and couldn't keep him (even though one neighbor really wanted me to - go figure) We always knew he would have to "go", especially after he started ripping all the skin off the neck of one hen. Everyone agreed it would be nice to keep "part" of him around, though. My little blue andalusian hen obliged me by going broody at the end of the summer. Hence the chicks. It was so much fun to watch her raise - even now as they are her size and still demanding to take food from her beak! Makes me wish I could keep a roo and do some real breeding.
