One of our two sweet little EEs, Pepper, stopped laying eggs about 3 weeks ago. This is the second time; it happened I think Dec-Jan for 2 weeks. She is also molting, at 14 months. Is this normal to not lay at all during a first adult molt?
We have been giving her half a calcium tablet for a week, just in case she wasn't getting enough. She doesn't appear to be egg bound. I was going to try an epsom salt bath today, but have been looking for answers/ideas here.
The other 12 girls aren't molting yet; one or two may be just starting to think about it. The rest are laying. We typically get 10-12 eggs a day, or 13 when Pepper's laying.
The last few weeks have been very hot in KY - most days are 86-93 degrees & humid, so we try to keep them cooled off.
Her comb & face seems a bit more faded red today. It's been redder, like she would be laying. Here's pics. Notice there's only one tail feather left - she normally has a magnificent, full tail that she's quite proud of.
She's eating and drinking. What do you think?

Mine usually stop laying when they molt. It’s normal if they do.

Thanks for the reply! I think I did just find the answer in the article about molting. So I will make sure she has plenty of protein, which we do normally - they get scrambled eggs twice a week, and extras like Egg Maker supplement, oatmeal, quinoa, corn, peas, black oil sunflower seeds to supplement their chicken feed.

Thanks! Unless someone thinks otherwise, I believe it's the molt.
