EE, sorry. If you have to ask, that almost guarantees it's an EE. You can only get Ameraucanas from a breeder, not a hatchery or someone who got theirs from a hatchery.

He looks just like a cockerel I gave away this spring before I knew we were moving to the country and could have as many roos as I wanted.

He's very pretty! And his baby girls might lay green eggs, especially if you get him some EE or Ameraucana ladies.

Btw, I have some 6 week old blue black and splash (I only got blue and black though) true Ameraucanas I hatched from eggs I bought locally. THere was an ad on Craiglist and the seller was very clear that his birds were the real deal. And they really were. He had the most gorgeous Am roo I have ever seen.

So check locally or order hatching eggs from someone on here if you want real Ameraucanas. Or wait til spring and see if anyone here will mail you one day olds.

x4 That's probably what my Apollo would have looked like if I'd kept him.

Maybe this will help you out on your quest to find a pure Ameraucana:

http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html

It is a chart with pictures that show all of the recognized Ameraucana colors. I believe somewhere on their site I also saw a list of breeders for pure Ameraucanas. It's probably not all inclusive, but maybe there is a breeder listed that is close to you.

ETA: Found it! Here is the Breeders Directory:

And by breeder, it means someone who knows the difference and can tell you the difference, and show you why their birds are pure bred and can tell you what accepted color the birds are. Some "breeders" just bought easter eggers from a hatchery, never learned the difference, bred and are selling the offspring. Those are still easter eggers.
