EE or Wheaten Ameraucana?

Taking the fact she's a "feed store rescue" into consideration, I'd highly doubt you have a true Wheaten Ameraucana. No hatcheries sell them. Only Buff, Blue, Black, Splash, and Lavender are available. Pretty sure you'd have to locate a breeder in order to obtain some. Stunning, regardless.

She looks very strikingly like a true Ameraucana. It's a real possibility that she's an EE, after all Ameraucanas are hardly an old breed and EEs are their progenitors, but if I had to guess I would say she looks more like an Am than an EE. Additionally, many birds are sometimes crossed out for diversity. To "be" a breed they need only meet the standard and breed true. This bird looks like they come close to the standard, though the latter is yet to be seen. It's not like dogs where they need a long, unbroken genetic line that's registered to "be" a breed.

The dark slate legs tend to be a little paler on these lighter colored Ameraucanas. I got a bunch of less-than-steller purebred wheaten Ameraucanas this past spring and their legs are pearly, almost white. So I would say her legs look plenty dark to me.

Having said that I'm not seeing any of the characteristic black markings of a wheaten and her color is a little light for a buff IMO but she could be buff or wheaten just not well bred. Just because an Am isn't well-bred doesn't mean it's an EE.

Ultimately, unless you're going to breed her it's not a big deal. But I would feel very confident referring to this bird as a proper Ameraucana, not an EE.

What is the feed store called.

It’s named after a city next to ours so I’d prefer just for security purposes to keep that to myself. A family had turned her in because they couldn’t care for her, so she wasn’t with any others of her kind.

Did you purchase her as a chick from the bins?

We got her as an adult. Our store has some cages with occasional misfits.

Still, I'm going with Easter Egger. True Wheaten Ameraucanas are generally more difficult to come by.

I'm going with Ameraucana.
Probably a wheaton with 1 or 2 copies of dominant white. That takes away the black but leaves the rest.

Hard to say, but i lean towards Ameraucana. She could easily be a mix of colors....

Since EE's usually have Ameraucana in them as part of their genetic makeup she could very likely be an EE that managed to get a large proportion of her genes from the Ameraucana part of her parentage.

That would be by guess; "mostly" Ameraucana.
