Is a bird considered an EE no matter what it looks like as long as it lays colored eggs??? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I ask because I have my EEs and my Ameraucana for now in with my Golden Comet roo...I will be hatching their eggs once they are fertile, so I'm curious, if the chicks lay green eggs are they themselves EEs? Do must they have muffs and a beard?

Thanks!

EE's usually do have muffs at least, and beards on most. EE's can be either off colored ameraucanas/araucanas or mixed with either of those. I think the colored egg thing is the designating factor for 'EE'.

EE's usually only carry one copy of the blue egg gene so only half the offspring from your Golden Comet x EE mating will carry the blue egg gene. Ameraucanas carry two copies of the blue egg gene so all of the offspring will carry the blue egg gene regardless of what kind of chicken they are bred to.
