EE rooster....right??--UPDATED, yes, definitely a rooster :)

I just figured I'd post to thank you all for your input....and to confirm that yes, this is definitely a boy!!! His name is Picante, in case anyone was wondering

.

I heard him crow for the first time today!!!!!! It was a rather impressive crow, to tell the truth!! Sounded just as loud & clear as the older Silkie roosters I heard at a local gamebird farm when I went to pick up some quail the other day. They were about 3 weeks older than mine.

I am officially a proud rooster mama

. I must have been a sight- when I heard the crow I couldn't tell who did it....Picante was standing next to Tabasco, my other EE "obvious" rooster. I got up and ran over to the other side of the pen, grinning....and all the other chickens followed me, running as well. Two more crows....and it was clearly Picante making all the noise.

I can't wait until the other 2 start crowing.....but, honestly, I hope that's ALL that start crowing. Judging by the photos/experiences I've seen on this thread & others (lovely birds by the way Shelley!)....I may have a couple other EE's who could "go either way". And I really hope they don't end up being roosters- 3 is plenty!! It's unlikely I'd be able to rehome roosters where I live....

At the beginning, Hubby said he wants a couple of the birds in "freezer camp" and I agreed, saying we'd eat excess roosters. But it turns out I'm particularly fond of all the roos & also the 2 I'm thinking could go either way. Why do all my favorites have to be the roosters??? LOL.....
