Thanks Illia... this has been the most useful post I have found since I began stalking this topic many months ago. I have two 'craigslist auracanas' which turned out to be EE's that I am still perplexed by (not surprising, I'm very new at this).
I post pictures several weeks ago and got a variety of responses about their gender. Now they are approximately 15 weeks old and I'm still not entirely sure (what age would they start to crow). Perhaps people would lend their opinions again as to the sexes? I look at combs, feather shape, and coloration and still come up empty.
The first chicken has mainly white feathering with black lines and a black tail. It is larger than the other bird I have from the same brood. It has a comb that is less pink then its litter mate. It looks like some of its feathers are turning slightly brown on the wings, back, and neck.
The second bird is my smallest. And its feathering is odd, possibly because its being picked on by the others, or perhaps it just molts constantly? So its never really had a proper tail. I has a bright pea comb and has black splotches with dark feathers on the head and rump. It also seems to be getting some brown feather spots on its back.
Thanks for the help and happy [educated!] guessing
