It would be cool if they were genetic, but I think it's just from the blueberries.

I thought it was blueberies too, but, then I noticed on the inner feathers, close to the skin. And in real life, its very purple, and NOT sticky or clumped together. I fed the berries just 2 hours before I noticed the color, wouldnt the feathers be sticky or kinda clumped together, even a little? I smeared a blueberry on a white towel and didnt get that purple color from them, but I guess the feather color would make a difference when mixed with juice.

Ah well- its cool to dream I have a partially purple chicken anyways!! Guess I would have to buy a Lavender project roo to mix her with to even attempt to reproduce the purple. (or just feed waaaaay more blueberries and live the fantasy,

Ok, so I think you guys are right... it must be the blueberries. What a messy eater she is!! What did she do, lay down on them and roll?!?!?
I couldnt resist plucking just a few little feathers and taking picks for posterity,so here they are. She didnt seem to mind me pulling a couple out, she just layed there and did nothing! I got these from almost under her wing, but still in the chest area... I didnt do anything to them, this is how they looked while still on her.

Here they are all together..
