If i cross my EE with my RIR will i get a bird that lays eggs like my EE or if its a rooster will it carrie that egg color gene???

There is a 50% chance the offspring will be heterozygous for blue eggs if the EE is heterozygous for that trait ; 100% chance the offspring will be heterozygous for blue eggs if the EE is homozygous . Since the blue egg comes from a dominate gene , heterozygous crosses always lay blue or green eggs .

Cool!!! I want to hatch an egg from my light blue layer EE hen Marshmellow crossed with my RIR roo Rusty. So maybe a chick from them will lay blue/green eggs.

If the resulting chick has a peacomb you're more likely to get a bird that'll lay a green/blue egg. Some say that the peacomb is associated with the blue egg gene.

Don't quote me, just repeating stuff that I've read here on the forum.

the pea comb gene and the blue egg gene are said to be on the same chromosome so during independent assortment the two arent seperated. This is a good indicator that a pullet will be a blue egg layer. that isnt always the case tho because if your hen is heterozygous for the gene there is a chance that the pullet wont get the blue egg layer gene but could get the pea comb gene. if she is homozygous for the blue gene then most if not all of your babies should lay and carry the blue gene. same goes for the pea comb if she is heterozygous for the gene then some of the offspring will get the pea comb and some single but if she is homozygous then most if not all of the babies should have pea combs. if she is heterozygous for both then you could get pea comb brown layers, pea comb blue layers, single comb brown layers, and/or single comb blue layers. there is a little genetics lesson for you. i just took that test in school so its pretty fresh in the mind and i use it all the time

even if the genes are dominent she could still be heterozygous for the traits so there is always a chance that the offspring could lay brown eggs and have a single comb.
