As I am sitting here at the computer, I can look out our picture window and see a ginormous immature bald eagle preening itself on a branch of a red maple tree in our front yard overlooking our lake. Normally, we get a lot of them in the spring when the ice is breaking up, and its no biggie because my flock is all safe and warm in the coop. But today, they are all out free ranging and I am going to have a heart attack!!!! EEEEEKKKKKK!!!!! Cant shoot it (obviously), just want to scare it away. What should I do???

Whew. Kay, I just ran out and threw rocks near it, and it flew away. I must have looked posessed

I just saw an eagle a few weeks ago. I'm glad there are more of them around now, when I was younger I never used to see as many as I do now.

ok...i know this picture is very bad..and fuzzy...i got it yesterday...i was going to get better ones today...but it was raining here..so i'm hoping that i can get few better ones tomorrow, of this bird that has been around my house alot...and now that he knows that i have chickens and ducks he's really around alot..almost every day...when i tried to get these pics...he actuall came right over my house..(tree top high)..but i couldnt get that shot...

...someone can tell me what they think it is..until i can get a better shot of it..it is VERY huge also..(well to me it is)...so i'm not sure if its a really big hawk or a golden eagle..or young bald eagles...but..they never get the white head if it is a bald eagle..so...

I have never seen a bald eagle as they are pretty scarce where I live, although they have been seen on the Kalamazoo river. The biggest birds around here are turkey vultures and the ocasional great blue heron.

we do have alot of them here..we are blessed that way.( i guess...lol)..they breed and mostly live in the Quabbin Resivour...which is just down the road from my house...anyone ever read the Stephen king book(cant remember the books name..

) about the Quabbin?...lol.sorry....i get to far off topic sometimes...sorry..

I could be wrong, the pic is not very good, but the shape of the wings look like an Osprey. The wings on the few Bald Eagles I have seen look wider, or fatter. The Osprey is more streamlined, and you find them more around water. But, like I said, I could be wrong. I'd like to see a more focused pic.
